1st Annual LJX Open: 

In our first official tournament of 2020.  We are aiming to provide a fun, COVID-safe environment for axe throwing enthusiasts of varying skill levels to come together to compete in a single day tournament of BlackJaxe.  

The BlackJaxe game will be familiar to all those Sport of Axe Throwing enthusiasts who are familiar with Blackjack or 21.   The BlackJaxe game, played in teams of two (NOT doubles) was piloted in our summer league and has proved to be an exciting spin on axe throwing which rewards strategy and gamesmanship in addition to axe throwing skill.  Whether you’re an elite thrower or you’re new to the sport, we hope to make this tournament fun for everyone!



Tournament Format: BlackJaxe Game (a.k.a. blackjack, 21) played in teams of 2.  
Date: Monday September 7th, 2020 (Labour Day)
Time: 12:30pm Sign-in & Practice Opens.  2pm Tournament Start.
Location:  LumberJaxe Ottawa, 250 City Centre Ave.  This an indoor/outdoor event where you are welcome to take advantage of our tented back patio and outdoor throwing lane.
Entry: $100+HST per team of two ($150+ value)


Included for each thrower: 

  • A LumberJaxe Open 2020 T-Shirt 
  • Box Lunch provided by The Kitchen
  • Drink Ticket sponsored by Beyond the Pale Brewery
  • Free practice during the whole event!  Use any of our available lanes to practice or challenge your friends to exhibition matches on our new LumberJaxe target.

Prizes: The winners will receive a trophy and take home an Axe & Beer Package, with plenty of other small prizes to be given away.After Party: Located on our fully licensed back patio with a wide selection of craft beer, mead, wine and cocktails available. 

Our partner The Kitchen will be serving chicken wings, crispy chicken bao buns, grilled veggie tacos, and much more!

Registrations are limited to abide by City of Ottawa regulations and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. To help keep everyone safe we will ask participants to wear masks when it is not possible to maintain distance from those outside your household. Coaches and staff will be wearing masks and hand sanitizer is available on all the lanes. Please contact us if you have any other questions about the steps we're taking to make this event as safe as possible.
